Please help,

I would like to relocate to Largo, FL to be able to take care my elderly parents (They are both 70's). I have 4 kids. My husband and I don't have health insurance but my 4 kids do thanks goodness for the Healthy Family Program that California offer to family. Does FL has a similar program like it? Thank you

Based on another message - you are self-employed in California. Don't know what you make - but I reckon it's more than you'd make here in Florida. In addition - Florida is pretty stingy when it comes benefits compared to California. I suggest that instead of you moving here - that your parents move near you. Robyn

I agree with Robyn. Florida is notoriously bad in terms of availability of good jobs with benefits and any kind of assistance for seniors and kids outside of federal programs that are available such as Social Security or Medicare. Relocating them to you would offer a better quality of life for all of you.

Are you talking about this:

Florida KidCare

Don't know anything about it personally, but have heard others on this forum discuss it - you can do a search of the forum at the top of the page.

Here is another possibly helpful website:

Florida's system is basically friendly Medicaid. California's system is similar but far easier for families to get into. If you are at the poverty level with four kids, Florida's care may be an option but otherwise they don't have much to offer.
