Not exactly. I am a military spouse, so there's that. My husband is stationed in NC. Also, I will be going back and forth to the FL address I am using for long term at a time (like every other month, for a month at a time) to help my retired dad out. My mom passed away almost 2 years ago, and I'm their only child, so it's me or nothing. Honestly, I could get a command memorandum to give to the FL DMV on top of everything else to be able to register in FL.

So, your assumptions are 100% wrong, but thanks for playing!

It's still fraud and gaming the system. I'm actually kind of surprised that Florida higher ed doesn't have a veteran's exemption for residency purposes because it's otherwise a pretty military-friendly system, (heck, the clause about military serving in the Panama Canal zone getting in-state tuition rates is still on the books) but it doesn't and you're looking for a way to get around both meaning and spirit of current residency law.

Interesting reading this thread. I got a FL license plate for my car about 1.5 years ago and it was not issued on the spot. Because I had financed may car (paid off now tho finally) I did not technically own the car so I had to get a letter from the bank who owned my car..... once I got that letter from the bank and showed it to the pate lady in Coral Springs she issued me a plate.... There was no asking if I wanted "the sunshine state" or "in god we trust" or the county I live in either. . . . She basically handed me my plate and it said "Broward" on it....... so I just took it and that was that. Pretty anti-climatic.

We have paid off our car and have the title, so that might make a difference in the procedure.
