That I feel like I'm in CT except it's flatter, has different flora, milder winters, hotter summers and nicer beaches but the people are pretty much like they are in the Northeast? If I'm inside a building (restaurant, gym, whatever) would I even know I'm in a different state? See where I'm going with this? Thanks to all who respond.

Inside places, such as stores, malls, etc are similar everywhere. It's getting to and from them that would be an adjustment. I notice northerners have a difficult time with the lack of fall colors and corresponding general lack of seasons.

The differences will be as followed:

Landscape: It will look different as there are no mountains and more vegetation, its basically a swamp and aside from the store fronts you will be vastly different then what your are used to. Check out anywhere in a city in florida and google map the street view for an idea.

Climate: This will be your biggest challenge. Coming in Feb will feel like June for Connecticut, if you survive a summer, by September you will have dealt with extreme heat and humidity, possibly multiple sun burns. We have severe thunderstorms during the summer and heat lightning at night which is enjoyable. Hurricanes sometimes but not often.

Daily Life: This all depends on if you secure employment, where and what your daily activities are. In FL it will be alot easier to get around all year instead of dealing with snowstorms, etc. There are the occasion monsoon thunderstorms that will make driving a PITA but overall will be easier to get around. The stores all look the same, just different franchises. Florida is sparwled out except Miami, so less of a city "feel".

People: Same as just about everywhere, some good, some bad, more southern accents but not by much lol

Traffic: Unless you are in Miami or Orlando, probably better than CT. Still bad though.

Hope this helps!

In South Florida that's typically the case. The Tampa Bay metro tends much more Midwestern with lots of people from Ohio and Michigan for example. It's more laidback as a result and doesn't feel the same as the Northeast (or South Florida).

My experience is that the people, in general, are more conservative than in the northeast. Depending on your political bent you may notice it more or not at all. (personally I like it)

It's a heck of a lot bigger, too. Quebec is closer to Hartford than Jacksonville is to Miami. So as New England has many different regions so does Florida.

YES. I'm a FL native but lived in Milwaukee for three years and wow, I miss the change in weather and everything that comes with that. But overall, there is not a huge difference as far as northern or southern, it more depends what city you're in. If you're from a big city and move to a smaller town, you'll feel more out of place than someone who moves to similar sized cities that have similar amenities. I think people here are probably more friendly than in the NE, though.
