Would you prefer to live in Vero Beach or Venice, FL. How come?!

Thanks!

Depends on your specific circumstances, but for myself since I already lived in Vero/Treasure Coast I would say Venice. Don't know much about the area but it has 3 metro areas within reach and is on the west coast of Florida where the beaches/ocean is calmer/better.

since you lived in vero beach... what did you think about it? i have never been there. we will be going in may, along with other cities, to see where we want to move.

I agree that it's a very personal choice. For me I'd choose Vero since it's a little further north and a little more off the beaten path. They really aren't all that comparable.

At the time (2004-2009) - It was known as "Zero Beach", because there was nothing for people my age (20's) to do for entertainment other than the usual (and limited) pool halls/bars/movie theater and places tended to close earlier than other areas (I.E. 6PM/9PM depending on the day).

If you're into beach/water activities then it may be ideal for you (I.E. Sebastian Inlet and associated waterways are always big), but I've lived on/near the coast since I was 12 and rarely make it out there.

The closest metro area is Orlando which would be a 60-90 minute drive, otherwise its West Palm to the south (90-120 minutes) or Daytona to the North (120-150 minutes).

Vero Beach, because it's on the Atlantic Coast and not the Gulf and I'm into surfing, and it's fairly close to Sebastian Inlet! That's my only personal rationale!

Venice is quite nice, though.

I would say Venice as well for that reason alone. It's also much less visually about the "haves and have nots" like Vero tends to be in terms of neighborhoods.

If you’re really in your 20’s Vero beach will be better. I think Sarasota would be better than Venice.

I'd say neither for living, but if I had to choose maybe Venice... but yeah...

Not even close. The average age in Vero Beach is 51 and while Venice is even higher (like 68) it's at least close enough to other towns where that's not the case. Vero is out there by itself with the next closest larger city (Fort Pierce) 30 minutes away (an hour and 45 minutes to Orlando) and even then still somewhat lacking in stuff to do, while from Venice you can be in downtown St Petersburg or downtown Tampa in an hour and 15 minutes.
