Only in Florida would this happen. I saw our garden all dug up and I thought the ducks had done it. Plants and dirt were strewn everywhere and it was a huge mess. I never thought ducks could be so destructive. I got a broom and started sweeping the dirt off the pool deck and putting the plants back. Then I looked further down the and saw more dirt dug up and more plants scattered about. I finally found the culprit. A giant turtle maybe 18 inches long and I said to her "did you do this to my garden?" She didn't answer so I left her alone. A few hours later I went out and she couldn't find where she first got under the fence and was stuck. It was getting dark. I tried digging under the fence but she was too big. Sea turtles cannot live on land and this one had to be really old. So I finally went in and got some gloves and picked her up and and then I fell and scraped my leg pretty bad. She struggled a little bit, but maybe she knew I was helping her and stopped. We saw her last year lay eggs but there was no fence and she had no problem. The whole area was dug up then and there were plenty of good nesting places. This time I covered all the dirt back so the babies will hatch and go to the lake. She was really heavy too. That was my good deed for the day. I called my brother the MD and he told me how to treat my injury. I am better today but it will take some time to heal.

Thundarr, sea turtles don't live in lakes....it could have been a soft shell, snapping turtle, or just your basic pond turtle

they can get that big

When I lived in Viera I had a big turtle digging in my front yard. I asked someone to relocate it out west. He told me it was against the law to do that but the turtle didn't bother me anymore after that.

One day while driving my car, a tiny flying insect landed on the windshield. Instead of squashing it with the wiper blades, I pulled over onto a patch of grass, found a leaf, let the bug latch on to it, and gently set it down in the grass.

One day, while I was still living in NY, I was on my way to work and had made a stop off to see my mother. At the time, she was in a physical therapy facility, having just been released from the hospital. Anyhow, as I was leaving, there was a cute little box turtle crossing the exit and he/she couldn't get up onto the curb to get to the pond that was nearby. I stopped and got out of my car, my NYPD uniform pressed and clean and shimmering in the sun. I waved to the car behind me, driven by a very cute blonde, and proceeded to walk over, pick the turtle up and place it onto the ground so it could carry on doing turtle things. As I was walking back to my car, the girl behind me rolled her window down and said "That was literally the cutest thing I have ever seen! You're a hero!" Well, folks, I'm no hero. But at least I have a story about how a turtle got me laid. Thanks, TurtleBro.

And when driving I avoid running over iguanas too, they are about 6 to 9 inches long here in my part of Miami.

I just saved a fish! As I was reading posts here, I heard a loud thump on the roof of my home-office.

I walked outside to investigate, & found a fish flopping around in our back yard. About 15" long, & a fat ~3 pounds.

I got a shovel, & tossed it back into the pond, & it swam away.

An Osprey dropped it on our roof a neighbor reported. The fish was too heavy for the Osprey to carry very far.
