My husband and I are considering moving to the Leesburg area. Is the rent for a 3 bdrm home there reasonable? how is the school system? I do data entry/typist clerk work and was wondering if there are plenty of jobs in that field....any information would be helpful.

Did you check out Rent.com or apartments.com? I live near Leesburg and would not recommend Leesburg schools. As far as Elementary schools, maybe Fruitland Park. There are many jobs in the medical field but you could probably find a data entry job. I don't know where you are from but wages in Lake county are low for most jobs. Traffic in Leesburg is terrible especially on 441. Tavares or Eustis would be better than Leesburg.

Bunny, I was just doing a bit of reading last night and learned that Lake Co. has a very low unemployment rate. It said that they have more jobs then people.

Yeah, Lake county has jobs, low paying jobs. I have to commute to Orange County to find any jobs that pay half way decent, and I'm talking 30,000 +. Try making ends meet on any less and you will come up short. BTW, it takes 2 incomes making more than 30,000 to be able to pay for all the extras like medical expenses, car repairs etc... Medical copays and deductibles will set you back a small fortune. I would say most jobs around here pay between 7-9 dollars an hour unless you are a highly skilled person or a professional.

Is it hard to find employers that offer group health insurance in that area?

Also, I don't know if you are aware, or if it matters, but Leesurg is huge retirement mecca.

I too would not highly recommend Leesburg for a family with school aged children. It is a pretty rough area out-side of the 55+ neighborhoods.

Hi. I just bought a home in Leesburg, and I liked the area.
True, I bought in a adult, gated community, (The Plantation), but I did like it enough to buy.
I'll be renting it until I retire myself in 5 years.

Good luck in your quest! I have heard awesome things about the hospital there from the locals.....

Frank D.

The new hospital in Leesburg is AWESOME. My husband participated in the Grand Opening Celebration and then took a tour - he said it was first rate and the latest of everything. A friend works there and thinks it's the best medical facility in the entire central Florida area. I'm not sure I would go that far, but I'm sure it's in the top tier.
