As a wannabe Floridian, are there any Scots or Scots descendants on this board?

No I've never visited, always wanted to.
I have a friend who is in the Sim clan that goes back to visit relatives several times a year.
So I get my Scotland fix vicariously.

My Dad is from Florida - his surname is Douglas and his mother was a Duncan. He was stationed in Maryland at the end of WWII, met my Mom here, and was offered a civilian job at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, so he relocated here. My mother also has some scottish ancestors - my g-g-g-grandfather was a McCalpin. I'm hoping to become a Floridian in the near future. Hope this makes me eligible for your list!

Just thought I'd share these links...

New World Celts has groups all over Florida. You can be Scottish, Irish, etc., it's a social group and they are focused on promoting and supporting the celtic cultures:

If you're in the NEFL area, we have our annual Scottish Highlands Games in February:

In April, we have the Jax Irish Fest - awesome music! This is a great festival! :

Definately! Thanks for your history. Some good Scottish surnames in your story!
