When people on this forum ask for neighborhoods, I usually directly them to what I think will be nicest and most convenient to their work, but if they specify that they want a Jewish/Anglo/black/Hispanic area, I have no problem at all in working that into my criteria that I consider when giving my recommendation.
Just imagine some white guy saying the same thing on here as "DopeBoii" saying he didn't want to be around Italian-Americans, Jews, Eastern Europeans, etc. Much less Hispanics or blacks. I guess I really don't care, but I just wanted to point out the double standard.

I have observed the double standard of which you speak and must say that I disagree with it as well. I admit that if I were to move somewhere about which I knew nothing and wanted to ask about it on City-Data, I would have no problem saying that although I wouldn't mind a racially diverse area, I would want to live around other people of European and Latin-American origin. There is a slight difference, however, between saying you want to live around a group and saying that you specifically don't want to live around a certain group. I can understand why some people might be offended if the latter were requested.

I'm not racist. If someone was in trouble, I'd help them. Regardless if they were Haitian, Jamaican, white whatever. I just rather live in a community where people have the same culture as me. So don't get it twisted

Titusville and Cocoa have a sizable black population, also Pine Hills in Orlando, it is not as bad as most people think as long as you stay away from the downtown areas. I have a question though, I am writting a paper on how race affects a community. Would you say that you would rather stay with your own kind than say, in an area with a very diverse population (mixed all in together)?
Do not feel obligated to make it less racial, any topic on race is. I will not think you are a racist just because you prefer to stick to your own kind, I live in a predominately white area, and I am trying to learn why people prefer to stick to their own, and I take it you are African American correct? I would love to get a black persons view on this subject, if you want you can direct message me if you feel more comfortable, any help provided would be greatly appreciated!

Riveria Beach and Fort Pierce, Florida have very sizable black populations. Riviera Beach I believe is actually an overwhelmingly black majority city.

Yes, while places like Riviera Beach are majority black, for one's safety, I strongly enourage Dope Boiii to avoid Riviera Beach, as well as some of the other areas mentioned throughout this thread.

God forbid! I would immediately be branded a "racist", a "bigot" or at the very least "culturally inthenthitive". The hypocrisy on here is mind boggling sometimes.
You need to understand that 'some' whites do this too - looking for their ethnic group. What I mean is that they may not blatantly ask, but there are communities of Italian-white (one example) in Brooklyn, NY, etc. etc. Whites don't 'say' they want to be around Scottish descendants(etc.) but there are differences - look at 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' for a non black perspective of culture.

It is not a race thing. I am Jamaican-American(parents from Jamaica) and there can be distinct differences between Black-American and Caribbean individuals, just as there are differences even in Latin cultures, etc. My husband has Puerto-Rican roots and it is different from Mexican culture even though they both speak Spanish. It is not a matter of race but a matter of getting along or sharing ideals. Yes, there are many Caribbeans that have negative views about American-born-non-Caribbean blacks....so why wouldn't someone(original poster) want to find less of that in their community?

However, on a whole, we should all try to get along and understand each other - so I am not advocating the negative views Caribbean immigrants have about non-Caribbean blacks.

For the original post - if you still live in those Caribbean areas - see what Caribbeans are about until you can move. If you want to move, take the suggestions on the 'black' areas and explore what you need to make you fit in.
