Does anyone know, or is anyone familiar with any law in Florida that says a zoning or historic board (or HOA) cannot deny permits for energy saving or eco-friendly improvements to a home? Or is it just rumor?

Not that I am aware of. My parents gave up trying to deal with Miami-Dade county getting permission for self-installed solar and a wind turbine.

I have had the feeling that myopic local zoning laws and HOA regulations are contributing and will contribute to the economic malaise/collapse of this country, a reflection of the idolatry of money and the inability to focus on the real value of resources.

The people behind these local zoning laws and HOA regulations will make every attempt to block any initiative that they perceive could impair "home values", even as taxes increase, incomes stagnate and the provision of basic services - like food and utilities - becomes an increasing challenge in an economy that has run up against just too many constraints, exacerbated by an organizational scheme that once made sense when the price mechanism functioned properly, but is now proving to be increasingly chaotic, and on top of that mismanaged by a pathological, mis-educated (at too high a price) kleptocracy.

Nothing new in history, I've seen this film before, just watching a repeat, though on a larger scale.

Put on your crash helmets and ...

Good Luck!
