Hey,
My boyfriend and I live in Nassau County, Long Island, NY, but we are extremely fed up with everything about Long Island and New York. Everything here is so expensive, my boyfriend commutes everyday to the city, and feels like that's all he spends his weekdays doing. We want to move down to Florida, but we don't even know where to start looking. We would ideally like to live somewhere near the coast, where there is a large number of young adults near our age (we're both 23), somewhere where there is a lot going on with people our age. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Why don't you just move to the city?

Where things are also expensive, and where public transportation practically does not exist.

You will be trading one set of problems for another.

What do you guys do for a living? I would SERIOUSLY research your working/housing arrangements before making a move. Don't get me wrong, it's nice here. But you might find yourselves in the same rat race here as you're in there (with a lot better weather, of course!).

The cost of living, on average, would be somewhere around the same as LI and maybe 10% less than NYC in any part of Florida that you would want to be in, while salaries (on average) would probably be closer to 20% off. I wouldn't do it.

Gotta agree with everyone else here. If you have a good job where you are, better STAY. We are not trying to be negative or discouraging, but unemployment in this state is at an all time high. Not a good idea to be moving here right now.

i live in north naples fl i regret it because i was raised in the country as a young girl. naples fl has a lot of ignorant people here if i were you i would look in these following places to live in below

shawdowoods at the brooks in bnsp fl single family houses and 1-story villa's are better investments than condos and apartments and mobile homes

hunter's ridge subdivison in bnsp fl

bonita bay subdivision
i plan on relocating to bnsp fl in the near future since its a smaller community and neighbors are nice and polite to one another there its a lot quieter and peaceful up in bnsp fl try bonita springs fl realty if you have children of all ages they will grow to lovw bnsp fl i love visiting there now.

good luck
mary

If I was going to relocate to Florida I'd start by looking at the port cities. Jacksonville, Miami, Tampa. These cities will have more diverse economies and a younger demographic.
Obviously the move begins with a job hunt. Long distance job hunts are difficult but not impossible.
