Try contacting one of the farmers - they may just be your best contact for meeting like minded people.
Try volunteering for a politically org. you believe in. Or a cause you believe in. Volunteer to visit nursing homes, be a Big Brother/Big Sister. It's not all about talking - it's about DOING. When you start doing you'll meet others who are doing too.
