I've only found one grocery store around here that carries lamb
on a regular basis...usually can get either chops or ground lamb
and sometimes a leg of lamb...however it's kind of on the expensive
side...6.99 a lb. for chops, $3-4 a lb. for ground...leg is really expensive...
occasionally I can find the chops marked down by $2 or $3 a package...
that's when I pick up a few pkgs. and put in the freezer...I do like the taste of lamb!!!

$6.99 a lb for chops is cheap compared to LI, for the Austrailian baby lamb chops prices start at about $12.99 a lb

Common, sorta. Mainstream, no. It's readily available in numerous corner markets around here thanks to a substantial Middle Eastern population nearby.

the stores here carry it but it is hideously expensive. Since I love lamb, I wait to buy it til I am at my other home in Toronto. There it is as common as beef and far, far less expensive than in the US.
