The other food I want to try, but no one has yet been able to smuggle to me from Sweden, is surströmming. It is fermented herring. If you have a high tolerance for loutishness and watching people ralph, and you go on LiveLeak and search for bigern666 and surströmming, you can find a hilarious video of four guys from Texas getting an experience of surströmming. Only two are even actually able to force themselves to try it. They both have bad days.
Don´t do it like those idiots if you ever try it.
Watch this how to do it the right way.
Also open the can in a bucket of water.
My DH would eat this. In fact When we had our pig roast 2 years ago he ate the eye balls. In the Italian culture it's a whole lambs head cooked and we call that Cappozelli.
^^I've eaten ants (hormigas) and they sound gross but they were delicious. I'm guessing the other insects, when roasted, probably taste good too. Bet we see the day when insects become a little less out there as food source.
I posted to a thread titled: Most disgusting food you ever tried? The answer was: Eggplant
But this thread is Grossest food you eat! That changes my answer: Certainly not Eggplant because I don't eat it... In fact, I cannot think of anything that is "gross" that I eat.
Yes, my Swedish friends have explained to me that I must open it outside wrapped in an old towel. If not, one gets what those guys got.
