Yes. We just built an off grid house that runs on solar and wind. Unfortunately we haven't had either in a few days. Right now we have the generator on and I'm doing laundry. Yeah! It is really awesome though not having to worry about power outages. We always have the generator.

HG I really hope you feel better. My hubby and I don't get sick very often, knock on wood. I think it's because we aren't around people very often. We get sick maybe once every 4 years or so. Now allergies and sinuses that's a different story.

Are you a dance teacher? I'm am very glad that your show was a success. Good for you.

Thank you for all the wonderful recipes. If I make all these desserts, bars, and cookies I will never make it out the door.

BAKE for 25 to 30 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.
I thought those were called dream bars?

Ok I just got back from the veggie farm and went a little crazy. I swear I can never get out of there under 50 dollars. Anyhoo....I bought turnips and beets. Now I need some recipes. My Grandmother says I should just peel em, boil em with butter. Anyone else have any ideas?

Beets are nice roasted and in a salad with goat cheese & walnuts.

Or borscht!

So I should toss in oil and roast them like a potato? Sounds interesting

Tonight I have no clue. DH is going to have leftovers from last night.
I had WW's weigh in last night. Even after Thanksgiving I lost 2/10's of a pound. (LOL I took off my watch).
But a loss is a loss. So I don't want pasta.
Maybe salad/chicken for me.................we'll see

I like to make a pureed soup out of sweet potatoes or butternut squash, a couple of turnips, and I usually throw in a large regular potato.

It's very good served with garnishes of any or all of the following on the side:

grated cheddar
diced apples
crumbled bacon
green onions
toasted pumpkin seeds or pepitas

Love those bars Amber!! I think we called the Magic bars or Goodie bars or something. Everyone seems to have a different name for them. They sell kits to make those in the baking aisle -- that's how I bake them, ha ha!! Has everything you need inside to make an 8x8 pan of them.

Thanks for the Vick's suggestions. When I was a kid my mom always put it on our nostrils and chest. Have to try the feet!!

I would not hesitate to put a few turnips around a beef roast as I would potatoes. When I raised my own a lot of them got eaten raw like carrots.
