I absolutely will not eat animal kidneys, brains and stomach parts. And I don't like blood pudding. I was raised as a farmer's daughter and we ate just about anything put in front of us. That was part of farm life. I have eaten raccoon, squirrel and dove and don't like any of these nor do I like Canadian Goose so I guess I wouldn't like any goose and I really don't like Duck either. I have eaten rattlesnake and alligator and these were ok, but I don't love them.
I have noticed that to my friends that only eat burgers and pizza, anything I eat is strange to them. Even things I would in no way consider exotic like dumplings.
I like brussels sprouts, which a lot of people seem to not like, and I love gorgonzola cheese.
As far as strange combinations, I used to eat muenster cheese and strawberry jam on whole wheat bread. It's good!
I tried some and found it pretty good. I can find some durian ice cream in the Asian stores here. None of my co-workers will touch it.
I've always wanted to try durian, because I'm always game to try new things other than meat, but I'm a super smeller and I'm afraid the smell would gross me out before I could get close enough to try it! What did it taste like?
Stewed chicken hearts and giblets. It was my comfort food when I was little. My mom used to make it for me when I was sick, and it was cheap at the time.
Have you checked out the prices of giblets now? Oh my!

Super smeller? You have hyperosmia? I do, and there are some things I just cannot eat. Often, grapes and strawberries will reek to me of sulphur. If I touch them with my bare hands, I can't get the smell off for hours. If I have to touch them, I do it with a fork.

I didn't know there was a technical term for it, and I've never experienced anything like what you describe. Are you not able to eat grapes and strawberries, or do they just leave a smell on your hands?
I just seem to have a really sensitive nose. I can smell things from a great distance, that others often cannot smell - if something has gone bad in the fridge, I can tell just from passing through the kitchen - and everyone else in the house looks at me like I'm nuts.
