I eat a piece of cake with frosting 365 days a year, and not even the sight of piece of cake looks appetizing!
I look thru the freezer, and it yuck, yuck, yuck! But I know I need to eat something even with no appetite!
I love Japanese food, but I don't know even if I drive to a Japanese restaurant if that'll titillate/re-awake my taste buds!
What do you do, if you have the flu, to regain your appetite? Some hot spicy food? Or just shove it down and hope you don't throw it all up?
I'm guessing you mean a stomach bug, not the flu? If you aren't hungry and nothing is appetizing to you, then that's probably your body's way of saying it isn't ready for food. Just drink lots of water to hydrate. If you think you need food, stick with the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast). You'll get your appetite back. It's not gone forever.
Earlier tonite, I decided to fix a tuna salad, with chopped up celery, onions, mayo and dillweed, on some lettuce, in a sandwich, and I was surprised it tasted so good. So perhaps my appetite is coming back!
Yeah, if you have the flu it is NOT a good idea to eat until you feel like eating. When your appetite vanishes it's your stomach asking for a vacation day.

Yes, I was going to say to just keep up your fluids until you get a craving for something.

That was gonna be my recommendation. Get well soon..
Try some ginger ale to clear the fuzzy feeling off of your tongue. It's so nice and crisp, it's the only thing I can drink right now.
