Advertisements

So, I normally buy the same brand of organic yogurt, but today there was a sale, so I grabbed a few of a new brand, Muller "fruitUp."

Below the ingredients it reads in an advisory box: "CONTAINS MILK AND TALAPIA (FISH)"

1. Why does it have an advisory stating that it contains milk, when milk is clearly listed as the first ingredient above.

2. Talapia fish...why? Really, why add one of the most contaminated Asian-farmed fish to yogurt?

Gelatin derived from the skin and bones of the tilapia are used to thicken the yogurt.

We use kosher gelatin from tilapia to maintain the light and airy texture of the fruit mousse.

^^^^ This would be your answer.

I love how if you get a bag of peanuts, it'll say on the package CONTAINS PEANUTS OR OTHER NUTS

Similar to how sleep-aids will say on them 'Caution: may cause drowsiness'. Gotta love stupid lawsuits that make these necessary.

To be fair with the sleep-aids, that warning is more that it may cause drowsiness after the time that you think it may. You can take it the night before and still be feeling some of the effects of it throughout the next day. It's not always completely out of your system when you wake up in the morning.

Fresh tilapia cooked on a grill is delightful.

The Food Allergen Label and Consumer Protection Act of 2004 requires the top 8 "major food" allergens be listed on food packaging labels, even if it's obvious. These are milk, eggs, fish, treenuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans and shellfish.
