Roast those potatoes in the pork drippings & that's our NYD meal.

Was it a cast iron tub?

Pot roast. I've decided to have pot roast. Breakfast will be late, and the next meal will be dinner. It will be chuck, gravy, onions, potatoes, carrots and green beans.

Do you make your own chicken broth? If so, have you tried roasting the bones in the oven first (even if the chicken is already baked)? It really increases the depth of flavor. I read that tip just recently and it explained to me why my turkey soup is always better (because I use a turkey that was roasted on a barbecue grill instead of baked).

My family always (or at least, tries to) have black-eyed peas on New Year's Day, for good luck.

NYE - not sure just yet. Could be a pizza or fish and French fries.
NYD - pork and sauerkraut in the crockpot and potato pancakes.
Glass of Riesling for me and I'm sure beer (vanilla porter or something like that) for Mr C

Lobster tails, lobster claw meat done in garlic butter and cheddar cheese, King crab, scallops, shrimp and pasta.
All with salted garlic butter. MMMMMMMM!! Our annual New Year's Eve feast with our adult children.

We always go out to a nice dinner on New Year's Eve. Then we go home and watch tv. We aren't drinkers or partiers. we also have no interest in driving home while there's a ton of drunks on the road.

I wanna be one of your adult kids!

I have a gift card to Round Table pizza and I'm thinking of using that this year on New Year's. It's either that or Chinese takeout - can't decide which.
