My 5 generation old recipe calls for beating the egg whites until stiff and folding into the finished product.
It's best if served ice cold by putting in the freezer for a while before drinking. My grandmother used to put it outside if temps were freezing or below at Christmas time.
The main difference is that it is not usually flavored with nutmeg.
