Dressing, meatloaf, and mac n cheese just makes me want a glass of wine, a man, a movie, and a warm blanket.

Chili with chunks of whole tomatoes and buttermilk cornbread with a smattering of butter.

Oooo! Yum

In a mustard sauce (the kind where there are real mustard seeds).

Salivating right now with no relief in sight.

All of the food I eat generally makes me comfortable so I don't have any regimented, traditional "comfort foods".

Cool The 25 Best Comfort Foods, In Order

The Huffington Post | By Rebecca Orchant Posted: 01/31/2014
Quote:
After a hard day, we automatically start looking forward to dinner. We know that however rough our day was -- whatever test we failed, boss we clashed with, family member we disappointed -- there's something to look forward to. We seek out these comfort foods in diners, at our stoves and in the company of friends.
As a diabetic, there's a number of these I really gotta go easy on. But, of all the 25, this is the one I enjoy making – and eating!

Read the piece @ The 25 Best Comfort Foods, In Order and the added goodies at the end really look great too.

Thanks for posting! This is a great list. I'm so hungry now. I agree with most of the 25 comfort foods, but I've never had dumplings or French onion soup. I was surprised to see tomato soup, creamed spinach, and ratatouille on the list. When I think of comfort foods, I think of something thick and hearty or cheesy. Those don't fit the bill for me. I also don't like peanut butter. I would replace tomato soup, creamed spinach and ratatouille with meatloaf, ribs, and pot roast. The rest is right on though.

Why are mashed potatoes and gravy two separate entries? Still, yes, comfort food

I agree with the tomato soup (along with the grilled cheese). And chicken soup. Tacos, yes. Mac N'Cheese. Where's the rice and beans? And beef stew?

Thanks, it was fun reading the list and I would never have spotted it because I never pay any attention to the Huffington P. I did miss seeing basic hamburgers (yes, cheeseburgers were there) I also would have had 2 of my favorites: split pea soup and Buffalo wings. A few of the others, I like but wouldn't think of them as being "comfort foods" and I have to ask, the same as SWgirl did: why wouldn't you consider potatoes and gravy as one? Of well, we all have our own ideas. I know I would never have creamed spinach as a comfort food.
