After a hard day, we automatically start looking forward to dinner. We know that however rough our day was -- whatever test we failed, boss we clashed with, family member we disappointed -- there's something to look forward to. We seek out these comfort foods in diners, at our stoves and in the company of friends.
As a diabetic, there's a number of these I really gotta go easy on. But, of all the 25, this is the one I enjoy making – and eating!
Thanks for posting! This is a great list. I'm so hungry now. I agree with most of the 25 comfort foods, but I've never had dumplings or French onion soup. I was surprised to see tomato soup, creamed spinach, and ratatouille on the list. When I think of comfort foods, I think of something thick and hearty or cheesy. Those don't fit the bill for me. I also don't like peanut butter. I would replace tomato soup, creamed spinach and ratatouille with meatloaf, ribs, and pot roast. The rest is right on though.
Thanks, it was fun reading the list and I would never have spotted it because I never pay any attention to the Huffington P. I did miss seeing basic hamburgers (yes, cheeseburgers were there) I also would have had 2 of my favorites: split pea soup and Buffalo wings. A few of the others, I like but wouldn't think of them as being "comfort foods" and I have to ask, the same as SWgirl did: why wouldn't you consider potatoes and gravy as one? Of well, we all have our own ideas. I know I would never have creamed spinach as a comfort food.
