Nothing wrong with stuff like candy, cookies, chips, peanuts etc now and then, but obviously not too smooth to down that stuff too much - and frankly I get tired of it anyway.

Course you could go the opposite route and eat fruits and vegetables, which is a smart (healthy) thing to do - but for me they don't tend to be very satisfying snack-wise.

So whaddya got? Some examples of my (usually late-night) snacks that you won't find in the snack aisles of the grocery store:

hot pockets - mostly just dough and cheese and hardly what I'd call a "meal" but make snacks

pita bread and hummus

cheese

PBJs

sandwich (eg ham)

tater tots

hot dog

Nuts

You can get the unsalted kind.

I love spicy peanuts (very salty of course) with dried peaches/apricots.

I suppose that one should be in the weird food combos thread?

Lately, we've been doing cheese w/lower fat Ritz crackers or almonds. Oh, and fresh strawberries or clementines.

I guess I didn't explain myself well. I was looking for stuff other than chips, nuts, pretzels, cookies, candy, dessert stuff (ie classic snack material) as well as something other than fruits/veggies. I guess I should've excluded cheese, that's pretty common too (I think-?). Hoping to find some off the beaten path stuff someone snacks on that might work for me.

Go to the frozen food section and get some spinach puffs, or fried mushrooms, or phyllo shells to fill with your favorite fillings. How about a great big dill pickle, or some of that hot pickle mix? Bagels and cream cheese? Mmmmm....
