Apples are a big deal in Virginia and there is a grand annual festival in Winchester as well as many other places throughout the state.

Irmo, SC has the Okra Strut
Loris, SC has a Bog-Off (for those who've never heard of Chicken Bog)
Awendaw, SC has the Blue Crab festival
Beaufort, SC has the shrimp festival
Every year my mom and her friends make a float for the "Annual Boykin (SC) Christmas Parade & Road Kill BBQ"
St. George, SC has the World Grits Festival

I know there are Peanut festivals, Chitlin Struts, Sweet Potato festivals, Watermelon festivals, Cotton festivals, Boll Weevil festivals, etc.

Over here in Manchester, England, there's a yearly Food and Drink Festival: Manchester Food and Drink Festival 2009

There's usually also several street food markets throughout the year, this one is in Oct: Manchester City Council - The Best of the North West! (http://www.manchester.gov.uk/info/200066/markets/1686/fine_food_markets - broken link)

Quote:
There is a wide variety of locally farmed and produced fresh foods, including speciality meats, smoked foods (fish, cheese, meats and poultry) cheeses, chutneys, pickles, black puddings, ice cream, specialist ales and sloe gin.
And this one, not specific to food but including food, was in May: Manchester City Council - Manchester Spring Market (http://www.manchester.gov.uk/info/200066/markets/1694/spring_market - broken link)

Quote:
You will also find an assortment of cuisines including a barbeque, game pie, chorizo sausage, paella, fresh curries, Dutch waffles, pancakes, local and Dutch cheese, olives and herbs.
There's a French Market in September with lots of food but can't find a link for it, and an Irish one around St Patrick's Day. And of course there's the Christmas Markets, again, not specific to food but certainly wouldn't be the Christmas Markets without the food!

Here in Madison, we've got the world's biggest brat fest (and no, that's not an ill-behaved child, it's the local term for a bratwurst). This past Memorial Day weekend, they set a new record of 208,752 sold. World's Largest Brat Fest

In August, there's the Great Taste of the Midwest, which is a craft beer festival. Tickets sell out months in advance: Great Taste of the Midwest (http://www.mhtg.org/index.php/great-taste-of-the-midwest - broken link)

And over Labor Day Weekend, there's always the Taste of Madison, when dozens of restaurants set up stands and booths around the Capitol Square downtown to serve up portions of their specialties: http://madisondining.com/taste-of-ma...8-in-pictures/. This one has been a little disappointing to us in recent years, as the chain restaurants have pretty much taken over, pushing out all the fabulous local places, but a lot of folks in the area still like it.

Every self-respecting town in Ohio has some kind of festival, and many of them centered on food: pumpkins, strawberries, honey, sauerkraut, pretzels, chocolate, ribs, goetta, seafood, wine, beer, banana splits, potatoes, popcorn, apples, grapes, corn, cheese, fish ... I'm sure I've missed a few.
