I found some leftover mashed potatoes in the fridge, and combined them with some bacon pieces, canned corn, and a dash of turmeric and black pepper, and pan-fried potato patties in the bacon grease, and topped them with a heavy dollop of sour cream. I was really surprised how good they turned out. Tomato and leafy green salad with chopped green olives.

I think the turmeric was an important and subtle touch.

S&B Golden Curry and boneless chicken over rice and may as well continue munching on my 8-10 pound cabbage from my garden. I've never tried the curry mix with chicken before so it should be interesting.

Lean breakfast turkey sausage (ground) sauteed with onions and garlic (drained of fat)
Add your favorite sauce (jarred or home made) Whatever consistency you like. I always add white wine and V8
Add couple handfuls Birdseye steamfresh peas with mushrooms (or as much as you like)

Serve over your your favorite pasta (I always use whole wheat)

Guess what? I made a regular sized pie with only 3 apples! They are huge mutzu apples. At this rate, I'll never get through them.
I picked up an old Cooks Illustrated at the library today. If you've never read it, you should try it. The magazine never fails to have something wonderful in it. In the issue I have there is a recipe for pumpkin pie (very timely). I'm always looking for the perfect pumpkin pie that has some zip to it and so I'll try it for Thanksgiving. Also, it had an awesome sounding recipe for stuffed portabello mushrooms with spinach and goat cheese which I can't wait to try. I might have to subscribe again because I forgot how great the magazine is.
