Field greens, toasted pecans, sliced strawberries, crumbled bacon and blue cheese with a raspberry vinagrette.

I've never made this salad but I've had it at restaurants and boy is it good.

I like a traditional Waldorf with pork - celery, apple, raisin and walnuts in a mayo/lemon dressing.

I'd make some kind of slaw but not too creamy - lots of spring greens, carrots and apples - maybe a poppyseed dressing to make it different.

Or a spinach, grapefruit/orange and almond salad - poppyseed dressing also works here!

Here's some slaw recipes - I love the idea of the warm slaw....

Oh wow! So many yummy ideas! Thank you all so much. I'm going to copy and paste all the suggestions and print it out. When it's all on a sheet of paper I can visualise things better.

Thanks again.

Vichel, I have made this dressing and variations of this salad for over 20 years. It's always a hit. It goes wonderfully with pork.

If you can make the dressing a day ahead or at least in the morning, it will have much better flavor.

What yummy dishes! Sorry that I didn't get to post before your dinner. I'm having Waldorf salad with my pork chops tomorrow.

How did your dinner go? We used to do these when I lived in a different city. Maybe we'll have some foodies move in here eventually.

The dinner was great, thanks for asking. Food and company. Our group's been having these dinners for over 5 years and we enjoy them so much.
