I thought I was going to have a great mustang story today, but the cop pulled over an escort instead...

I was driving down 10/90 today around 9:30 AM, so the traffic was pretty light and the people were going pretty fast as it's a 5 lane highway and very straight. My radar detector went off, so I backed off down to around 70 or so and a mustang went blowing by me. I figured he was going to get nailed for sure, but he ended up getting stuck behind one of the idiot left lane drivers we have here right before he went over the slight hill where the cop was hiding. The escort had the misfortune of crossing over about three lanes of traffic at about 75 while coming down the hill right where the cop was sitting.. and got pulled over of course

I love my radar detector, especially when I'm watching someone else that obviously doesn't have one

BTW, I have no idea who was driving that mustang either. It's the first time I've ever seen one going over the speed limit here and about three miles before that I had to work my way around one that was driving in the left lane at about 5 mph under the speed limit..

I had a 1984 Mustang GT, with the 5.0 litre engine (302 C.I.) - it was red and black, and had a T-top. I put almost 155,000 miles on it and it was still running strong when I sold it ten and a half years ago.

I've always liked Mustangs, and I like the new ones. The only ones I didn't care for too much were the ones Ford made from 1974 until 1978. They lacked in performance, and that was because Ford was forced to reduce performance due to the tougher emissions standards, and the rising gas prices.

They should REALLY consider making the Ford Mustang an AWD car. This would be much better for those who live in snowbelt or mountain areas. A RWD car is just not that practical if you live in an area that gets a lot of snow.

Respectfully, that would be a horrible decision on Ford's part. The Mustang is a sports car, not a sedan. Mustang faithful would riot on the streets of Detroit if Ford rolled out an AWD 'Stang, and rightfully so IMO.

Audi makes some great cars for driving enthusiasts in the snowbelt.

I think the only people that would riot would be the ones that like sliding out of curves, like most RWD cars do. Most of the exotic supercars feature or at least offer AWD and that's because they want full use of all the power, all the time and in every situation. RWD can be a lot of fun if you're out messing around, but for those of us that prefer to maintain control of the car, AWD is the way to go..

Thats what Lancers and Impreza WRX and STi are for. Spank Mustangs in the snow, dry, rain and mud! Cheaper to insure too!

Back on topic, Id NEVER want Ford to make an AWD Mustang, thats just wrong. Its always been a FE/RWD car and needs to stay that way IMO.

I can only think of a handful of AWD exotics. Theyre far outnumbered by the RWD variety and for good reason, RWD cars (on a whole) handle much better than AWD cars. The greatest race cars of all time are RWD.

Yes, but I thought AWD cars have excellent handling in all weather conditions. You can still have a sports car with a TON of horsepower with AWD. I think it would be better if Ford offered AWD as an option in the Mustang.
