Funny naming choices- people trying to "save" the Mustang are like people who tried to "save" the horse and buggy when motorcars first came out. EVs are only going to grow and ICEs will continue to decline until they barely make sense for anyone in the future.

Thanks for the canned EV statement, but this is about an AWD 4 door crossover being awkwardly named after a current production rear wheel drive coupe.

Btw nobody tried to save the horse and buggy as the car was much easier to own. An EV on the other hand does the same exact thing any other car does and in some aspects is actually regressive ( like the idea of paying more for more range).
It’s an alternative not a replacement.

Ford can call it a Mustang if they want it’s their vehicle they own the Mustang name and can use it on any vehicle they want.

Mustang is an iconic 2 door sports coupe. It is NOT a SUV or else alike. It's a Mustang. Just like Camaro or Corvette are what they are.

Soon enough we will have 4 door Corvetter behemoth EV north of $100 000 SUV. You just let Ford slide that card here. Stinky examples are contagious.

And hence there’s backlash and a petition. It’s Ford’s right to be stupid and our right to call them out on it.

If you actually read the article, Ford attempted to name what would become the Probe as the “Mustang”. Fans wrote in, they changed it, and now the Probe is gone and the real Mustang is still here. Otherwise the Mustang would have died the 90’s with the Probe.

Imagine the backlash a Porsche Macan would have if they called it a 911?

The whole 'Mustang family' thing is dumb. I can see how it'll be a few years from now...

"I just bought me a Mustang yesterday"

Reply... "oh Really? Is it the two door, four door, or that SUV thing?"

What if GM called Escalade a Camaro? They own the name after all.
