My family is relocating to the Fort Lauderdale area this summer. With lots of help from this forum, we have targeted Parkland and north Coral Springs as ideal places for us to buy a home. While we are house hunting though, we are looking for temporary, preferably furnished housing for like 2-3 months.

I came across an apartment in International Village in Lauderhill FL. The address is near 3700 Inverrary Dr, Lauderhill, FL 33319. Does anyone know if this a decent area for us to rent while we househunt? I heard Lauderhill as a whole is not a good neighborhood, but this particular part was a light green on that awesome map a fellow forum member has put up. Any thoughts?

Another area we looked at was in Pompano beach off of A1A, and a town home in Delray, but that's a bit far. My husband will be working in the north Fort Lauderdale neighborhood. All apartments seemed to have a minimum 7 month lease and I would love to buy sooner than that. And corporate housing was ludicrously expensive!

Thanks for your input!!

Lauderhill isn't a neighborhood. It's a city with many neighborhoods. Inverrary is Lauderhill's most expensive area and where there is the least amount of crime. You can find very nice neighborhoods in the Inverrary area of Lauderhill.

You also have a significant number of condos that are no longer populated by the original owners. Anywhere with rentals requires research of the people that are doing the renting.

Why Lauderdhill and not some place near Parkland, if that's where you will be buying?

Thanks all. I've been unable to find any temporary furnished (or even unfurnished) housing in the areas of Parkland or Coral Springs, which is why I expanded my search beyond those areas. And like I mentioned earlier, corporate housing became very expensive for a 2 bed place, near 5k a month. There are many beach side vacation rentals, but while that may be great on vacation, I don't know if its ideal right now with a young kid and while actively house hunting. The place here seems nice at International Village, but I'm just unsure of the neighborhood.

My 24 year old daughter lives in International Village in Inverray. She rents a apt and feels very safe, it's gated and guarded 24/7 . Two pools( one I door) a small tea type restaurant, gym, tennis courts etc ...I think the areas getting there that you drive thru look kinda run down but once you turn off Oakland Park , it's a different world ....

Why are you so unsure? This is not the Lauderhill you hear bad stuff about. This is the desirable Lauderhill.
