A certain Mike Wolf made a reply on a Davie, fl post I made...
He said that Basically all the "ranches" in broward "Southwest ranches, sunshine ranches, etc.) are just really fancy names for gated communities...However I was on their website, [southwest's] and it IS it's own city with it's own city hall and stuff, so I wanted to see what y'all thought? Are they just gated communities, or are they actual, bona fide towns/cities? Thanx! |

Southwest Ranches is a fully incorporated, rural lifestyle community incorporating former unincorporated rural communities such as Ivanhoe Estates and Sunshine Ranches. It's basically a sprinkling of rich and redneck, but the feeling is definitely exurban/rural. Long Lakes Ranches is a gated McMansion community in west Davie built by GL Homes. It's definitely not over "As soon as you pull out of your driveway" in Southwest Ranches, unless you live on the border of Pembroke Pines, and theres no country in the first place in Long Lakes Ranches LOL! I would be inclined to say that by reading that post (in the other thread), they don't really know what they are talking about (sorry Mike Wolf, you seem cool, but your wrong on that one
).If you can afford it, go SW Ranches. Good school district too. Last edited by compelled to reply; 12-18-2007 at 04:34 PM. |

SW Ranches is expen$ive but really nice and well worth it. Tons of nice houses (both in gated communities as well without an HOA). Since prices have come down a bit, I did notice a lot of houses that have come down in price considerably.

I know!! TEll me about it! On realtor.com, the same houses that used to cost 750,000 there now cost 630,000 and I have a feeling they'll keep goin' down for a while, especially with gasoline and products going up so much! So it may be possible to snag a house over there!!! Hope I'm able to!!! Compelled to reply has gotten me totally convinced and I'm about to visit so...Wish me luck!
