Im just wondering if you guys can help me out in picking an apartment near the Pompano Beach area? I am about to be 21 years old and would greatly appreciate information on good areas and the areas to stay away from. I have found 2 apartments with maps below. I have looked for reviews and it seems like people only report bad things about places they have lived but never the good so its been difficult. thanks for helping guys

250 West Sample Road Pompano Beach, FL 33064 - Google Maps

and

3505 West Atlantic Blvd. Pompano Beach, FL 33069 - Google Maps

I'll add my endorsement for Port Royale (which is actually in far northern Fort Lauderdale instead of Pompano). Lived there many years ago and it's still nice.

There are very nice waterfront areas in Pompano! Check it out for yourself, lots of great waterfront restaurants etc. It's beautiful!

Kraiser, I hope you haven't rented in any of those places yet. Those are 2 awful locations.

If you're going to live in Pompano, stay on the beach on A1A. Everything east of the intracoastal is not good, IMO. There are some neighborhoods just east of the intracoastal and just north of Atlantic Blv that are okay, but I would still not recommend them to anyone not familiar with the area. It seems half these houses are for rent or for sale, so that tells you something.

What a bummer! I wish i would have asked you guys a month earlier than i did... Anyway i am here now and i do see alot of run down places where people live. I never expected this amount of 'trash' neighborhoods so close to the beach. The place i chose i really got lucky because it isnt bad at all just he surrounding area could take some fixing up. At least when this lease is up ill be able to find a new place if i need to.

I lived in Cresthaven for a couple of years and it is pretty hit or miss. Try to stick to streets with lot of owners instead of mostly renters and you will have a better situation. I owned and never had a single issue with crime. When I did see the police in the neighborhood it was always for domestic issues never break-ins or violence. The closer you are to federal the better. Definitely try to stay east of around tenth. The closer one gets to Dixie to more problematic it can become.
