We found a home today we like alot. However it has a pool cage that has a flat top (older model). There are a couple large pine trees which I believe will be a problem with the needles.

Can anyone give me a rough guess how much a new cage would cost ?? Or, can they just take the flat top off and install a new dome ????

Thanks, Ted

Depends on the size....I've been quoted 10k on a rather large cage.

Yes, those pine needles will be a pain.

Hope this helps!

How do you replace the screens on the top of the cage????? I know how to replace a screen and piping, but how do you work on the ones on top??

Will the braces support you if you lay planking or something across the beams???

If you do buy, be careful cutting down those pines. It's my understanding they're protected and you need to replace any you cut down. I agree - they are a total pain. If only the 3 around our place would up and die... Oh, and I love trees, BTW...just not these!

$8k to $10k for an average pool cage. Someone asked on City-Data before about pine needles on a pool cage. You can buy a pine needle rake. My last home had pine trees in the backyard and we always had pine needles hanging down through the screen. It definitely was a pain. Here is the web site for a pine needle and leaf rake for a roof or screened cage. Pine Needle and Leaf Roof Rake and wide assortment of leaf rakes on line There are other web sites as well. Just another option rather than cutting down the pine trees.
