Hello All,

Thank you so much for all your recent advise. Getting these questions answered really helps ease our minds with our move. Our home search still continues, as we sort through all these listings. Can anyone give us an approximate on how much an average sized pool with cage would be. I know it varies greatly depending on size but just an guesstimate would be great. Helps us decide if its worth us to buy a house with a pool or put one in after and get more house for the money now.

Thanks Very Much, Mike;

I would say, buy one with a pool. We built in 2006, pool around 20 grand, cage perhaps another 3 to 5 grand. All depends on your layout. Then you have pavers to surround the pool and coping. Heck, 30.000. easy I surmise.

As we were looking at houses recently - I too asked what would be the cost of putting in a cage... from my understanding the new laws make it so that the cage must withstand Cat 4 or 5 Hurricane. Translation - about 10 to 15k for the cage itself.

We've looked at new construction recently...adding a pool with a cage was around $35,000 - $40,000, depending on size.

We had a good size saltwater heated pool done with a cage for about $35,000.00, I spent 2 days getting quotes and was very happy with our decision and the price we got. Our highest quote for the same pool was 65,000 so be careful you don't get taken advantage of. If you want the name of the pool installer let me know.

We have a lot of pools built onto our investment properties in the area. A 12x24 pool, which is the average size of a pool around here with a stamped concrete deck and cage starts at 20k but could go up a few thousand dollars depending on what they run into when they are digging the hole out. Just make sure that there will be room on your lot for a pool to be added without passing your lot line limits.

We had recently had four estimates for a 14'X28' free form pool with a spa, salt system, heater, and a bigger than average paver deck, all caged for the average price of $38,500.

We had a pool installed about 8 months ago. The average cost of a pool with cage is $35,000. It can be a little cheaper depending on what items you select - lighting package, jets, size of cement decking, finish, heater or not, etc. The price of aluminum has gone up for the cage. You are definitely better off buying a home with a pool. You never get your return on investment when you have a pool installed after you buy. And the price of the home you buy does not increase by the value of the pool. But I guess the best thing is to find a home you like an can afford. We chose a home without a pool because it had everything else we wanted. Then we had the pool installed almost 2 years after we moved here when we could afford it.
