I'm new to Cape Coral and am located in the SW section... where is the best area for trick or treating? Are there any rules such as times that the kids usually head out? Some towns across America start trick or treating crazy early when it's still light and I've always gone when it was all the way dark back in Michigan.
Anyone with any answers would be greatly appreciated! I'm looking forward to finding a good place to take my children and celebrate!

There are no real rules that I know of. Sadly, trick or treating is not as popular in this area as it used to be. My wife and I will be sittin around until around 9 o'clock hoping to give out lots of candy. We'll be very dissapointed if we don't see any trick or treaters. We are in central Cape Coral on Coral Point Drive.

JB has a good idea. It's sad to say that many families don't feel comfortable answering their door bells any more.

If it weren't already Friday, I'd suggest calling the school. I always thought there were school activities around Halloween for the children. Here's the only list I could find in the News-Press

Spooktacular Cape Coral Halloween Events | news-press.com | The News-Press

Here's a list of events (7 pages) for SWFL

http://www.news-press.com/article/20091014/LIFESTYLES/91014017?referrer=conveyor

This was in the Cape Coral Breeze

This must be what JB was talking about:

Royal Palm “Scare” Boulevard — Parents and children will park and trick or
treat to each business up and down Royal Palm Square Boulevard. A Halloween
costume contest will be held throughout the evening. Winners will be
announced online at dellutrilawgroup.com. Prizes for each costume category
are $100 gift cards to Toys R Us. 5-8 p.m., Royal Palm Square Boulevard,
Fort Myers. 939-0900.

My Cousins / Sisters go in my family's neighborhood in SE CC just off Santa Barbara & Midpoint. Usually about 50% of the houses particpate in block. I'd guess most any establishe neighborhood in South CC should be pretty good and safe.

I'm off of Skyline and this is the first time I've lived in a house where trick or treating is a possibility. I've always lived in a condo, so now I'm excited and really hoping for lots of trick or treaters. I figure til around 9 or so too; then as another poster says, off to the grown-up party! I'm just north of Veterans and there's lots of houses w/kids. Nice area too!

You should really go to gated communities as they are secure and do more family oriented activities. If you can go over Cape Coral Bridge to Fort Myers on College Blvd, turn right onto Winkler to Gladious Blvd, turn Right to 1st light. You have Parker Lakes & Laguna Lakes which are by the Bass Road Library. Both communities have great treat or treat. Go to the house section rather than the condo's. It is gated community so you will have to trail gate to get in but it is worth it. Any community in SW area is great. Whiskey Creek. Cape Coral has some areas that are no too safe. Do you homework.
