Seems like all the schools on the NE part of town (where we live) have an A rating and are least 7/10. By contrast, the area where my SO wants to move does not have good schools. I know winters suck here (I am originally from Oklahoma), but I want our boy to have good schooling.

When you say the northeast part of town, are you referring to Leo-Cedarville-Grabill area?

The public school system's grading is flawed by the IDOE. It doesn't take into account the economic social issues of the area. If you look at most A schools, the poverty rate is extremely low. Most F schools, the poverty rate is extremely high. That isn't by coincidence.

You can have a great public school with amazing teachers, administration, and students and still get an F. If a school has students high in poverty, it will make a significant difference. In contrast, you can have an "A" school in an upper-middle class neighborhood, with terrible teachers and terrible administration.

It's no secret that upper-middle class students perform much better because of more parental involvement.

What I'm trying to say is if you're invested in your child's education, your child will have a GREAT education. Now there are teachers that aren't the greatest, so you have to be wary.
