Hello! We've debated on painting our home ourselves and was actually planning on that for about a year, but could never get work, school, sport schedules to line up. We finally decided to get a quote to have it professionally done. The quote we received was $1300, which includes a power wash of the entire house (even our pergola which will not be painted), mold/soap wash, removing old caulk, resealing seams with new caulk and resealing seams of the gutters, minor chimney repair (missing a metal piece), painting the vents on the roof, primer, paint. We have a 1900sq ft home, full brick. It'll be mostly trim/gutter work, but they will also be painting the front/back doors, garage, and our front porch is a siding material. They will be using rollers, brushes, and a sprayer. Is $1300 too expensive?

We've tried calling other companies to get quotes, but they either won't return our phone calls or have been no-shows, so we really don't have anything to compare it to at the moment. We've been playing this game with other painters for a few weeks now and are ready to get the work done. Should we stick with the quote we received or is it too much?

Does that include paint & caulk? How long will it take?
I know some painters who have good recommendations on Angie's list will provide 2 painters at about $400 a day. That's for 8 hours work, (lunch unpaid) and no supplies -- owner provides all materials but not painting equipment.

I would estimate you need a few boxes of (20 tubes) caulk ($75) and maybe 2 5-gallon pails of exterior paint ($400) for supplies.

So if the $1300 estimate includes supplies and 2 days of work, its an ok deal.

Yes, it does include Sherwin Williams paint and a high end caulk that both have warranties. It'll be a 2 day process...first day will be prep, second day paint. We were told the crew would consist of a project manager and his 3-4 man crew. No payment until we are satisfied with the job and the project manager has inspected the work with us. Very impressed with the company so far and actually expected the price to be much more, but $1300 is still a big chunk of change, so I wanted to do my homework a little more.

I'll give Angie's list a glance, thank you! I actually just called one of the painters that never returned my phone call and will be getting a quote from him this afternoon. Not quite sure I feel comfortable with him, since it's been weeks without a returned call, but at least we'll have another estimate to compare

I would love to know the name of the company as I'm looking to get a small wooden house fully painted. Thanks!

Me too--
we have a 4000 sq ft two story brick house with 3 wood-faced garage doors and a 30 ft section of wood fence that faces the driveway and garage doors that will need to be painted...
and we are getting full gutters/downspouts painted as well...
but he didn't mention caulking any seams that needed it...
and our price w/paint included (3 colors--SW SuperPaint--not the best but decent quality) was for just over 3K

I think it is a little high but we have used him before and he is very trustworthy/reliable...vs using someone you don't have experience with...
my husband says it is worth a couple of hundred to have peace of mind--
I just don't know it the diff might be 700 or more...
