How could I go about selling my High School ring? And how much should I expect for it? Its just 10K, has a stone in it, a peridot.
The ring has absolutely no sentimental value to me, and if my kids inherited it, they would just sell it, so I might as well sell it.
What about the stone? Would whoever bought it pry it out and return it, or give a price for it? How do you find a reputable place to sell the ring?
Weigh it and see how much it's worth using this calculator -- probably not much. A lot of the class rings I've seen have synthetic stones..... also not much...
I've thought about selling mine everytime (over the past 20 some years ) that golld has gone up ..... I feel the same way, I might have worn it a couple times the last few months of high school and its been in my jewelery box ever since..
The sad part - my parents tried to talk me into the "fake" rings, but I wanted gold so I paid the difference out of pocket.
My dad metal detects and I think he'd attempted to find the owners of some rings over the years... (other than the value of the gold) the owners have been pretty indifferent to the rings so he quit looking for them pretty early on
I have a gorgeous silver rosary - one of the large ones - made with silver crosses for the beads. This thread reminds me that I should go get it appraised. Since I'm not a Catholic, the rosary belonged to my ex-husband's grandmother, and he won't call me back so I can return it, I don't feel bad about selling it.
I am thinking of selling mine too. There are several jewelry stores in my town that are buying gold, so I will get some idea from a couple of those what I could get for it. My daughter sold a few very tiny pieces like chain and a very small pendant, over a year ago and got over $400. Gold is up now over $1100 an oz. which is way more than it was when she sold hers. Check it out at least at 2 or 3 places before you sell.

Is there someone else in the family who might want it? Now that I have a daughter myself, I wish I had more of our family itmes to pass on to her...
Years ago, my FIL and husband had a disagreement and my FIL got mad and gave some old family heirlooms to my husband's BIL (sister's husband). Of course, they got divorced and the items were gone forever.

Unfortunately, I have been unable to get a response from any of the family members. I've tried more than once to get it to someone who cares for it ... apparently, no one really does care. It's sad, because it's a gorgeous piece.
hubby just sold his at national pawn in raleigh nc. He got 258.00- 10k gold w/synthetic stone. Free money I say!
