I drove to a rough section of town today for supplies (one vendor is there and is 5-8% cheaper than the normal vendor I use). While there I bought gas (13 cents a gallon cheaper) and used the free "air hose" to fill my tires (vs. $1 at a regular station).

5 miles further out of my way and saved about $15+ (maybe up to $17). In theory it would really payoff over the course of a year ($15 X 52 = $780) but I usually only go if I am heading that way anyway and I need a decent amount of supplies.

Hi City Guy997S--

It's funny you mention this because I do the same thing when I know gas prices are spiking. For some reason, gas will drop a few cents a day, and then spike 20-30 cents on some random day for probably an unknown reason. But there's one mom and pop outfit in the hood - ironically enough called Big Daddy's - which is usually a little slow in updating their prices. I've saved I don't know how many dollars that way over the past year.

I picked up a penny in the parking lot at work today. Now I'm one cent closer to early retirement!

I got gas for my car using a credit card the gives 5% cash rewards for gas.

Went to lunch and ordered the daily lunch special which was the cheapest item on the menu.

I paid the HOA gardeners $30 to uproot three hedges from my patio.
It took them all of ten minutes.
Then I realized it was "The Holidays", so I said "Merry Christmas".

Does this count?

I went to Harbor Freight and got a 1/2 drive torque wrench for $9.99 (regular price $34.99) with one of their super coupons. I also had a coupon for a free pair of work gloves with any purchase of $9.99 or more. (value on the gloves was $1.79)
Total out of pocket $10.71.

My cat Keegan is very frugal. He threw up this morning and promptly ate it. This sort of frugality is what legends are made of.

Yesterday I prepared my meals for the week all at once. It's amazing how cheap you can eat when you cook from scratch Today I did my part by eating some venison for lunch (free), steamed veggies with a little salt, and a baked potato.
