My resolution was to put every one of my 2017 paychecks into savings, and I did that. We lived off just my husband's income this year. Now that didn't hurt a bit, did it. I resolve to do it again in 2018.
My goals: Max my 401k (including the catch up) and HSA plans and save an additional $20k or so on top of that. The recession left me broke at middle age, so I have to accelerate savings. Cutting out dating altogether, so that saves me a lot of wasted $. My new plan is to save enough over the next 5-7 years where I can retire early and move to a cheaper country with beautiful women who like American men, so probably a Latin American country. At that point, I'll be able to live off of 3-4% of my savings per year.
I was thinking about starting anotger new thread for 2018, but redirecting this thread is good too.
2017 ended up being a disastrous financial year for us. All we really managed to do was pay down way more on the house. Everything else was the pits.
I'm hoping to accomplish more in 2018 than we did in 2017.
Here's hoping everyone had a happy healthy prosperous New year!!!!
Starting a new thread would be great, am up for that.
Sorry to hear you 2017 financial year didn't live up to expectations...
My 2018 goal is to max out my 401k and Roth contributions and get a 10% return on my overall retirements to make up for 2017 where I went too conservative with my allocation.... gotta save more for the kids college fund too!
