Just curious.. Why not buy a small bag of seed starting soil? I used those pellets and will never do it again. Seeds didnt germinate as well and some pellets didn't expand enough. They try to market it as the next best thing. Just use soil and a tray.
Depends how they were stored. Cool dry dark place? Click my posts below and see pics
I will do that next time and use egg cartons. It will cost a lot less.
I start my seeds in a small container with plant mix, but all together, not individually.
If you make a note on your stick in the container of how many seeds you planted you'll know what percentage are viable.
I use plastic mushroom containers from grocery store, put drainage holes in with icepick.
Larger seeds (tomato, beans) can be started in a moist paper towel inside a plastic zip bag. Very easy to plant the ones that germinate, very easy to see germ. % Of course big growers can't do it this way but I've done this many times.
After seedlings get big enough to transplant they go to bigger planting boxes or out in garden.
The flower seeds have already sprouted, I am hoping the vegetable seed will sprout soon.
