The 2 things that have done the most damage have been deer and one year we had a packrat in the yard. Having said that I looked out the window into my backyard last night and for the first time saw a rabbit. It is a wild rabbit, snuck through the fence. All my flowers are just getting ready to bloom and I am so worried he'll be back.
Since battling the water issue the last 2 1/2 years I have to add humans (if that's what they are) to the list. Ever since they started adding fluoride to the water, I've been only watering a small portion of the garden, by hand with water from the reverse osmosis filtration system. This doesn't get absolutely all the bad stuff out but it's better than the public water - which I wouldn't trust in veggies to eat.
Another encroachment is the chemtrails. From what I have read they are putting drugs and other toxic stuff in the mix that are meant to subdue us, similarly to the fluoride and other things in the water. The water issue was the straw that made me decide to move 2 1/2 years ago. In the meantime I'm still here as haven't found anywhere else where the same things haven't been happening. I suppose the first solution is to get just anywhere that is out of the city and where I have my own well from a water. Had I sold and done this then, things would be moving along better right now.
Just a rant - hope someone can relate.
To conserve water, I've put cinder blocks in squares, with wood frames on the top. So far I've used fiberglass, garden fabric, and corrugated pvc plastic for the tops. The fiberglass worked great but started getting too hot. Garden fabric works well and better than nothing but still lets out a lot of the water. Now I'm experimenting with the corrugated pvc. This lets out some heat on the sides and hopefully will keep in more water. My purslane is doing well and quite yummy. By the way it only rains here in the winter, so the water issue is major. Any ideas about any of this, feel free to comment.
