WWII- Great Grandfather

My family has fought in every single war the U.S. has been involved in since the Revolution. I wish I had known all this when I was still in school because, as much as I loved history anyway, I would've loved it even more! One of my ancestors kept a diary during his War of 1812 service and it was fascinating. It also had a ton of genealogy info about family members too...Priceless!!!
A few of mine were in WWII, but not by choice... they were Polish Jews, so I think you know how that turned out. Oh, but my Great-Uncle did serve in WWII with the US Army (that line of my family was already here), and actually brought home a young woman who survived Auschwitz - they later married, and she's still alive today.
One of my ancestors came to Andover, MA. in 1640. But then family decided to move to Canada during the American Revolution. My great-great grandfather returned to the USA to go to medical school and served in the 9th Ill. Cavalry Co. I during the Civil War. One of my great uncles was killed during WWII in 1942 in the Philippines and posthumously awarded the Bronze Star medal with V device. Another brother (another great uncle) served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. Their younger brother (another one of my great uncles who is still alive today) also served on a subchaser in the Atlantic-Pacific-Aleutians & mid-Pacific as well taking part in the Kwajalein invasion during WWII. This great uncle's wife was first married to a cousin in my family was also killed in the Pacific in WWII.
On the other side of my family I have relatives who were in WWII, but not by choice as they were Hungarian Jews (distantly related to my grandfather on the other side of my family).
