Im starting to go back to work fulltime starting next week. I am paying $350 a month towards rent and bills(dh pays the other half because he is now working a parttime job). I gross between $725- $790 every two weeks. If i only have to pay $350 a month towards bills how much do you ladies think i should save every month in order to be able to move my family and i to texas by feb of next yr? I am going to put my goal of going back to school fulltime because i am determined to move out of michigan in feb when we recieve our income taxes, and put both income taxes and whatever moneys ive saved by then together and just move. Ive already deducted $529 monthly out of my checks for groceries which leaves me to the $725- $790 monthly so you dont have to factor in groceries.

Personally I would save every single penny possible. If that means no new clothes, no eating out, no going to the movies etc... With your ultimate goal being going back to school and moving a considerable distance you'll need every penny.

Expenses you'll have to consider are: possibly doing a scout trip to Texas to find a rental, first, last and security on a rental, possible deposit on utilities for the rental, moving truck, gas, hotel nights and meals during travel, living expenses for a minimum of 6 months (if you have a job lined up, possibly less) and all the crazy little things that sneak up on you.

If you scrimp and save only to find out that you have more money than you needed for the move then you have a nice cushion to start your new life. Good Luck.

How can anyone save living expenses for 6 months, while working FT, and supporting 2 kids? Unless someone else is paying the bills, I have never figured out how that is possible.

Wow, I don't know how you are saving all that but that is GREAT! So I agree to save every single penny for the big move so nothing will hold you back. Good luck!

Wow, Good Luck! I agree with what everyone has been saying. Every little bit that you save for the move will be a huge help. Hope everything works out
