In that case maybe even IBM for NYS

Verizon can trace its roots back to NJ and even Philly

Verizon was the merger of two baby Bells from NJ with Bell Atlantic Philly and NYNEX NYC

Washington:

Starbucks is famous, but I would imagine Microsoft to be just as famous. Everyone in the world knows to Bill Gates is, a die hard Washington resident. His name has become synonymous with computers, software, and WEALTH.

Microsoft was founded in New Mexico. Boeing is an industry leader from Washington.

Yes! I can remember calling NJ Bell to pay my bill over the phone (must have been late, lol) and getting this "Welcome to Verizon!" message. I thought I'd called the wrong number, so I hung up and dialed again. And I couldn't figure out what they were saying. It sounded like "Horizon".

That makes no sense, b/c company moves are represented there. I.E. NC with Bank of America.

Cummins for Indiana I can understand, but is it really that famous with most people? Is it more famous that Eli Lilly & Company? Then again, maybe more people know the names of the drugs Eli Lilly makes but not the name of the company. What about Simon Property Group? They own a huge number of shopping malls across the globe but again maybe the name isn't that well known. Finish Line is a pretty known brand, though, possibly even Shoe Carnival. Personally, I think Wellpoint (originally Anthem Insurance Blue Cross Blue Shield) based in Indianapolis would be much more well known than Cummins.

Agree about Ford instead of GM for MI.
Jack Daniels for TN.
Tropicana for FL.

It was founded in Albuquerque because that's where Paul Allen was working at the time. The company moved it's headquarters the Seattle before Microsoft even became big. Big founded somewhere doesn't make it thats states brand. If that were true then McDonald's should be for California!
