What do you find creepy about Bristol VA? It's just your typical retail sprawl surrounded by residential areas, and an old downtown core, not much different than hundreds of other older towns. Not the prettiest town, but I've seen worse.
It was a few years back, but I thought Rochester NY had a vary weird vibe to it.
I am likewise curious to hear why Rochester, NY gave off that vibe. Living here I obviously do not get the same impressions that outsiders might.

I sure hope not. Weird and eerie don't necessarily have to be negative. Weird is cool and eerie is fascinating. This thread has potential to be very interesting.
Anyway, here's my list:

I grew up in Utica and I agree about the vibe. After I moved away it was noticeable every time I returned. It is hard to put your finger on it but there is a feeling of defeat in the air, like people have given up and are no longer trying. But that isn't it exactly, it has a slight Twilight Zone feel too. The Mohawk Valley in general seems like its own little world.
