It's hot (appealing to most people, but not to me) and with the exception of California, cheap.

IMO, the true Sun Belt is Southern CA, Southern NV, AZ, NM, TX, and FL. GA, NC, TN, etc. just seem more like slightly newer, slightly warmer versions of the Northeast and Great Lakes region.

We didn't get one flake of snow here and it never gets hot enough for me to complain, knowing that winter will be back in due time.

j/k... well not entirely...

Not everywhere in the sunbelt is terribly hot, even for a good part of the year. Santa Fe is in the sunbelt for example.
