Almost exactly what we did a few weeks ago and it was great! There are some great places to eat in Breaux Bridge too...
cpg35223, yeah well the only museum that was a good cultural experience was the Confederate Museum in Greenville. I'm a little split because I only have about 10 days to get back to Vegas before my plane has to take me back to Australia. But speaking if museums/monuments I found Stone Mountain ridiculous, a theme park and blaring hip hop crap in front of the monument... Stayed in Kennesaw after seeing the obligatory stuff in Atlanta and experienced some authenticity. I've been a bit lucky in that it's a lot easier to strike up conversations because of people asking where I'm from when they hear my accent. They don't seem to care to ask questions about my fiancée's Western accent.
Danielj72. Yeah. Seems like Florida is the worst affected in that regard. I come from a more rural Australian background (spent my early years on a farm) and from what I had heard and read I was expecting the South and its natives to be very similar to my own cultural background. It hasn't actually disappointed except for the places that are Northernised.
And thank you again all for the advice
