Which region do you think has more Sarah Palin or George Bush type people? From what I understand, New England is more socialist and traditional while the Pacific Northwest is more libertarian and socially liberal, so they're really not the same aside from the fact they are not Christian Conservatives.

Pacific Northwest. Even the rural areas don't vote Republican in New England anymore and it has the lowest percentage of evangelical Christians in the US.

New England is pretty social and politically liberal. Almost all New England states are blue. I was one of the few GOP backers when I lived in Massachusetts but I am now an independent. I heard the Pac Northwest is even more socially and politically liberal than New England but I don't know for a fact because I never been to the Pac Northwest.

It would make sense to limit the thread to the Pacific Northwest west of the Cascades. There's nothing liberal about the Pacific Northwest east of the Cascades

Off topic, but the most interesting area on that map is the "Driftless Area" where Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois meet.

Definitely! I find it interesting that forested places tend to be more liberal, with the exception of the South.
