It seems more and more, the only ones they protect and serve is themselves.

To the average citizen, all they do is law enforcement. The have taken the human element out of the equation, and assume everyone is guilty until proven innocent.

In before the cop hater comments!

No worries. It's still really the norm for people to assume Military is Male. People always thank my husband for his service, when it was me.

These are different times. I don't worry about the police infringing on my rights because I follow the law. However I think these weapons should be reserved for worst case scenarios.

Different times- I take it you lap up the propaganda then yeah haha. These are the safest times in history for gods sake especially in the West. Fear mongering is a terrible thing, you live in peace and prosperity compared to a lot of the world. They are tricking you my friend, the media, government and law enforcement (even law enforcement sounds terrible, like they are their to enforce instead of protect)

You underestimate me, I don't rely on the media to think for me nor am I a fearful individual. You live in a different society I know full well that the benefit of those weapons is mostly psychological leverage.

Well no pint trying to convince you you are set in you views and me in mine. I find it hard to understand why any rational person would accept this.

So you think guns are only for a psychological effect? That's a bit silly lol

Don't believe that P London but I think that is a big part. I have seen first hand escalated situations where an overwhelming presence of force is quite effective.

It isn't something that happens exclusively in America, i mean it happened even here with the death of Carlo Giuliani with the riots on the day of G8 meeting in Genoa which happened in 2001. Policemen rarely carry firearms here, though, this seems a much more common thing in the USA and probably after 9/11 they went overboard.
