I leave my doors unlocked, keys in my car at night, windows open. Never experienced any type of crime here. Oh there was a wild kid on a skateboard once who ran into me. He apologized.
ALL of America isn't the cesspool cities shown on the news.
I think our culture here is just more predatory compared to other countries. Even cities that are considered "ghetto free" like Portland and Seattle have areas far rougher than anything you'll find in Canada.
Here on City-Data you would think Miami is this crime-infested hellhole!
I never really thought Miami was that dangerous myself, for a city that size I didn't think it was that bad, it def has a few really bad parts but most of the city is working class Latinos
You would think TO has ghettos too because it has a lot of graffiti (the previous mayor wanted to get rid of it and was pictured many times pressure washing walls with graffiti). Usually where there's crime, you also find lots of graffiti or trash.
Toronto is the safest big city in North America. Even NYC is safe these days though. But Canadian cities definitely have an edge when it comes to less crime.
I'm Canadian who live in Kitchener Waterloo (a large metro city) and I have never experienced crime. I leave all my doors unlocked and sometimes in the summer leave them wide open. I have never heard gun shots or have heard of shooting
g in my city. Crime here is exceedingly low if not virtually unheard of and there is no such thing as a "ghetto" (even in Toronto) as every area is safe at all hours of the day. There are no muggings, car jackings , home invasions or drive by shootings like the states.
I'd like to know why the states is so violent?
We have more Black and Hispanic people than you do. In many states without such 'diversity' you are able to do the same.

Yeah, just depends on the area. I love Miami myself.

I must live in one of those cesspools because I've heard gunshots on numerous occasions and even the drunks around here remember to lock their doors before they go to bed.
