I moved here for several reasons. One is that DH's family is in Detroit area and mine is in Syracuse, NY so it is a great location since we are equidistant from both of our families and I was looking for something not too far from either. I also found a good job here and was targeting this area since the area appeals to me as far as things to do.
I enjoy the climate here and have trouble in warm, sunny places. It's perfect for me
I love living by the lake--I have pretty much always lived by water and just feel better when I'm near it.
COL is great and my salary goes much farther here. I spend FAR less than 30% of my income on housing and I live in a nice home so that is a huge plus and leaves money left over to save and use for other things like travel!
The location is great since I'm not too far from other cities I like such as Cleveland, Buffalo, Pittsburgh.
