Cincy? Somebody's let their fandom cloud their vision.
When I think of sports in Cincy, I think of the Reds not the Bengals. The Reds are old and have a storied tradition, it would not surprise me at all if they were a top baseball city
I grew up in New England so I'll have to say Red Sox. That was my entire life as a kid up until they started winning regularly and it got a little boring. But I remember watching all 162 games every single year either at Fenway or on TV and most of my family and friends did the same thing. You know it's a baseball crazy area when you are watching a West coast game that starts at 10pm on a Tuesday night in September when both teams are way out of the play off race.
As a non bias baseball fan I would say that St Louis is the only place that comes close. Cards fans I have met are all just as passionate and knowledgable about all of the nuances of the game and they still hold Stan the Man in the same reverence was Sox fans hold The Splendid Splinter

That's funny because I'm an A's fan. The Reds were the first pro franchise, play the first game every year, and the team is huge with the local population. But don't let facts get in the way or anything.

You can't tell some of these people anything. They evaluate teams based on tv promos and the gear they see others wearing at school.
Over here, people - especially the young generations - are more interested in basketball.
Hockey is obviously big, mostly due to bandwagon fans though.
Baseball isn't as big as it used to be, although it has started growing again due to the success of the Cubs.
Football is probably at the bottom. But all 4 are still relatively popular. Chicago is a big sports town..
The only part of this statement that is true is the hockey one.
Baseball is HUGE right now due to the Cubs being the best team on the planet. And frankly, the Cubs' fans (I am not one of them) are super loyal to the team, even all through the bad years.
If the Bears manage to have a winning season, just watch the city explode into football mania. The Bears are still #1 in Chicago, even though they have sucked.
Nobody cares about basketball except on the pick up courts. The Bulls are also-rans in Chicago at this point. Along with the White Sox because they keep losing. The NBA has fallen below the NHL now as the 4th sport, IMHO.
And college basketball in Chicago is terrible. DePaul, Northwestern, etc. are all TERRIBLE teams.

Facts like the Reds have never once cracked the top 10 in attendance by percentage in over 15 years? Or that they've been below league average in attendence for over 15 years with the exception of the year Great American Bandbox opened? I mean, it's an old historic team, I know Cincinnatians love them and follow the team, but it's pretty silly to argue anywhere with mediocre attendence for the last couple decades, at least, is up there with the "biggest" baseball cities/most ardent fan bases.
Lol no it doesn't. Chicago has a history of terrible baseball. St. Louis has a history of outstanding baseball.
